Are you prepared?

Even thought war is not a popular topic these days and I have heard both sides and I just rather not post views that I have feelings on but just wondering.

It is strong suggested to make plans and have a kit in case of war.
Has any one started to make their kit or even gotten a plan of action who to contact in case something did happen?

I think it is always wise to be prepare for the unknown future, and even if it’s not war but weather issues or being laid off. Everyone should have a plan of action.

If any one had any ideas on contacting or an ideal way to insure to track people let me know. Thanks!

As an official child of the Cold War, who grew up 30 miles from Davis Monthan Air Force Base (Target #17 in the Soviet hit plan -- a first strike target, should the nukes fly) I must say that I've fallen back on my growing-up war plan: Play it by ear until you hear the impact sirens, then take your lawnchair up onto the roof and watch the pretty colours as the firestorm makes it all go away.

There are some wars it's better not to survive. If She has other plans for me, then fine. Let Her work to have them implemented. As for anything less than a nuke strike, I preferr to remain flexible for as long as possible. I do better by reacting than by planning anyway.

That is a good point, I guess with me there is something driving me to live on no matter what. I don’t what pushes me to that conviction. But I am just that way. But I do know I rather be prepared with a network of communication in some form to know everything is all right. Either through phone, email, carrier bird or what ever it takes. :: rubs her head:: I guess I am just to compassionate for others I care about.

Re: In a war of terrorism...
Very vaild points you have there.

And knowledge for me is power against those that should try to harm my family, friends or me.

But also is it not always a good Idea to have a back up play for a few things? Sure life has alot of loops and turns and you just can't plan for everything. But you can atleast have a upper hand on some given situations.

:shrugs: Just a thought ;)

Miss yah!!

I would include whatever you would put in a kit for surviving a tornado. These are just basic survival things though, which should be in your house, terrorists or not.

  • 5 gallons of drinking water
  • Box of waterproof matches
  • Flashlight
  • Battery-powered Radio
  • Batteries for flashlight and radio
  • Multi-tool (I prefer the Leatherman Wave)
  • 5 days of food (MREs {Meals Ready to Eat} or just plain ol' power/nutrient bars)

These are things I keep in my house at all times, not for terrorist preparation, but for LIFE preparation. You never know when the water main on your street is gonna get busted, or some freak weather thing is gonna keep you stuck in the house for a few days. Power outages, whatever, these are good things to keep handy...

I am prepared
or at least as prepared as I ever will be. I keep fluids around the house, I look both ways before crossing the street, I watch the weather channel and I read the news several times a day. There is no way to "prepare" for devestation. A room sealed enough to protect you against outside chemicals would kill you of carbon monoxide poisoning in 5 hours and you'd likely have been exposed before you finished ripping the tape.

No, I will play it as it comes. I am a guardian, my lot is to be doing something, not sitting in a sealed room. In many ways the current "preparedness" training reminds me of the duck and cover days of the 50s. I will prepare by being alert. I will prepare by fighting the prejudice I've been trained to feel and look for the real terrorists. I will prepare by living a normal healthy life despite the fact that the terrorists of any faith, creed or color wish me to believe they are waiting around the corner to end it all for me. I've faced death and it does not scare me.
