Parents charged after girl chained to bed dies in fire

Molly Holt was killed in a fire that destroyed her family's home early Monday.

(CNN) -- A couple was charged with manslaughter Wednesday in Clarksville, Arkansas, after their 10-year-old daughter died in a fire in their house. The girl was unable to escape because she was chained to her bed, authorities said.

The fire was reported in a 911 call around 12:45 a.m. (1:45 a.m. EST) Monday, according to Johnson County Sheriff Wesley Kendrick. When firefighters and sheriff's deputies arrived, Lloyd Holt, Teresa Dick and their two other children were outside of the house, which was already "burned to the ground," Kendrick said.

"There are several sheriff's department personnel and some firefighters still having a hard time with this," Kendrick told CNN in a phone interview.

After the site had cooled down, investigators found a chain with a padlock secured to a bed, Kendrick said. They also found Molly Holt's remains.

At their arraignment hearing, Holt and Dick were appointed a public defender and ordered held in the Johnson County Detention Center on bail of $100,000 each.

Kendrick said the Arkansas State Police are assisting in the investigation, and the couple's two remaining children have been sent to live with relatives. The sheriff said it's not known why Molly was chained to her bed.

Johnson County Prosecutor Bruce Wilson said the reason was part of the investigation.

"We're not disclosing any of that information at this point," Wilson said in a phone interview with CNN.

That's horrible.. and reminds me of something that happened in Tucson years ago. One of my friends lived right next to this guy. This guy had two children living in a closet for about 6 years I think... how the kids survived was beyond me. My friend is a little creeped out by it since.. the guy always seemed nice.. but it's always those people too.

GAH! you know that is horrid. And I remember reading about a huge child Porn ring in Eupor that got busted. The parents where sharing thier kids to other people. HOW could you do that? I ask myself that every day ..

It's sick and it causes more sickness ..

A child has every right to have a healthy life.. Not to live in the sickness thier parents are in or other people

These kids weren't even his own though... he kidnapped them for that long! Now if a kid goes missing for an hour they practically send the FBI out after em.

Siple...
Lock the psychos (and I use the term in the negative, "lost touch with reality" sense) in a room and throw away the room!!! Only to be fed to a horde of marching, cannibalistic "Barneys."

grrrr.... I'm so pissed that people would do that to their own kids! I need to go play some Dynasty Warriors 4 to cool off.
