"For Your Consideration"

THE ATTACK ON
ASH CREEK MOBILE HOME PARK

Please, consider the facts with an open mind.

You may think,
"What does this have to do with me ?"

Council member Chaney's
attack on the
families and the elderly
of Ash Creek mobile
HOME park
by means of what seems to be an attempted
end-run around eminent domain,
cannot be allowed to succeed...
for everyone's sake.

We are blessed to live in a land where laws count for
something.

Chaney and his Gang of Thirteen may have been playing
a game that, virtually, no one else was "in on."

Oh, well, the info was out there...

If Ash Creek mobile HOME park residents wanted to
attend the last two and half, plus, years of meetings,
all they had to do was show-up.

Who could have conceived that Highland Road was
covered in the
"FERGUSON ROAD"  initiative ?

But, the info was out there.

Connecting the dots, leads
THE ASH CREEK
TRUTH TELLER
to a strong suspicion that
FRI meetings were intentionally kept, low-key;
seemingly, clandestine.

Who knew, besides the alleged plotters and those
truly goodhearted volunteers that do not realize that
dubious characters that may be lurking inside of in
the
Ferguson Road Initiative ?

The federal
"Weed and Seed"
program, intended to help communities,
has mainly done just that;
it has helped.

Many good things came from that funding.

FRI and "Weed and Seed" have a list of successes,
that can't be denied.

But...

Just as a magician diverts our attention while
performing an illusion,

Chaney uses federal
"Weed and Seed" money
to help the Ferguson road initiative (FRI) and...

WATCH OUT !

While you were reading this sentence, Chaney and the
Homebuilders may have been rolling out blueprints,
in a star chamber, and marking-up maps with plans for
walled cities.

They may have just drawn a circle around your
home or business.

You may be located just exactly where the next
walled city will be
imposed on our area.

And yes, in case you were wondering, Leo Chaney and
the Dallas City Council, have taken "homes."

In the narrow window of time, between the ruling by
the Supreme Court and when Texas legislature acted to
re-strengthen eminent domain laws,
Chaney and the Dallas City Council voted to take homes
from residents.

Some homes taken, had been family owned for many
generations.

Was all this so, Chaney and the Homebuilders could
build more MacMansions at Ferguson and Lakeland to,
"Broaden the tax base ?"

Is your home or business on or near Ferguson road ?

If so...

If you see a rezoning sign posted, anywhere remotely
near you...

Our advice...

+ Take it seriously

+ Act swiftly

+ Check it out thoroughly

In the case of
Ash Creek mobile HOME park
the "proposed rezoning" notice (a sign) was benignly
planted on the other side of the creek, half way up
the hill (towards Ferguson) on an empty lot that was
covered with fantastic old trees.

Would any reasonable person have thought
Ash Creek mobile
HOME park
would be drawn into the rezoning area ?

No one in the park, including the management or the
owner, received any notification.

No letter, no phone call,
no email, no nothin'.

Zip.

Nada.

It reminds me of a movie,

"Badges ?"

"We don't need no
stinkin' badges"

Folks may have preconceived ideas about residents of
mobile homes;
mostly, wrong.

Here's where the "Tryin' to stay open minded" part
comes in...

You may not care about a trailer park.

"Who cares?

We're probably, better-off without a mobile home park
around, anyway."

WATCH OUT !

Here comes Chaney, the magician.

He's waving
FRI and "Weed and Seed" successes, in front of
your eyes, all the while, plotting to decimate the Ash
Creek / White Rock / Ferguson Road area.

Something is hugely wrong here.

This whole thing doesn't pass the smell test.

The truly elegant,
natural landscape along
Highland Road, between Ferguson Road and
San Rafael Street,
is now interrupted by a giant chunk of land,
stripped of its
old trees and fauna. The land cries. It will never
recover.

The Enclave at White Rock has impaled the neighborhood
with their new and strident way of life:  The Walled
and Gated City.

If someone wanted to contrive a way to divide a
community,
they couldn't have came up with a better plan than
walled and gated fiefdoms.

THE ENCLAVE AT
WHITE ROCK (EAWR)

is truly the

ANOMALY

The style, architecture and the over-all ambiance of
EAWR, is in stark contradiction to the Ash Creek /
Highland Road area's mood.

Most homes in this area are laid-back with large
expanses of old trees and
beautiful yards.

Grinding huge swaths across the landscape,
destroying blankets of old trees rolling in from White
Rock lake, to allow Homebuilders to impose walled
fiefdoms
on the scenery, is an obscenity !

THE
ASH CREEK /
FERGUSON /
WHITE ROCK
AREA , DOES NOT WANT NOR NEED ANY FURTHER
DESTRUCTION OF OUR LAND FOR WALLED AND GATED CITIES.

WE DON'T WANT ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT FIT OUR UNIQUE,
LAID-BACK AND COMFORTABLE NEIGHBORHOOD

STOP !

COUNCIL MEMBER CHANEY,
CEASE AND DESIST !

WE DO NOT WANT GATED/WALLED CITADELS

IN THE THE
ASH CREEK /
FERGUSON /
WHITE ROCK
AREA

TAKE A STAND BEFORE THEY COME FOR YOUR HOUSE... YOUR
BUSINESS

SAVE ASH CREEK HOMES (SACH)

and the
ASH CREEK TRUTH TELLER
recommend the following:

Immediate legislation protecting all areas around
White Rock Lake, from being ground-up in the name of
what our city council member, Leo V. Chaney Jr.,
calls,
"Broadening the tax base."

Sometimes we just need to say, "Stop !"

"Enough is enough !"

Please help fight for fair and open zoning, and to
stop Leo Chaney's decimation of the
Highland Road / Ferguson area.

The effort you put into helping today, may save your
home or business, tomorrow.

SACH is committed to keeping a microscope on this
attack against our sense of place and our standing in
the history of the land.

Ash Creek mobile
HOME park
has been a good steward of the land since 1949.

Dallas city council member, Leo Chaney, his Gang of
Thirteen and Homebuilders may have been plotting
against our
neighborhood land for more than two and half years.

They just pulled the trigger and just can't understand
why
we are still standing.

We are, indeed,
taking a stand.

As mentioned earlier,
we are a country that respects the
law of the land.

Unless the fix is in,
Ash Creek Mobile HOME Park will survive.

This is America.
They can't just can't take our homes and businesses
and rezone in favor of Homebuilders and walled / gated
cities.
Especially, in Texas.

Chaney, et. all, can't takeover property, homes and
business, as the
railroads did in the eighteen-hundreds.

We all know the story.

"Chaney and his Gang of Thirteen, are riding into
town, sheriff !"

"Sheriff !  Sheriff !"

And the sheriff says,
"You better sellout at the rip-off price they offered
and be thankful they don't put you to sleep."

Now, get out of town,
or something bad, might happen to you."

THE BAD:
Could be an attempt to run-around the Texas laws of
eminent domain and steal what is rightfully yours.

STAND WITH US

DON'T LOSE YOUR PROPERTY TO
DALLAS CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
LEO V. CHANEY
AND RELENTLESS HOMEBUILDERS

SAVE ASH CREEK HOMES (SACH)

Ancient saying:
"All roads lead to Rome."

Concerning the attack on the Ash Creek / Ferguson
community's way-of-life...

All roads seem to lead to
Dallas city council member Leo V. Chaney.
STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF A DALLAS GEM
Ash Creek / Ferguson / White Rock / community.

Help us draw the line now,
so when they come after your property...

You won't have to
argue with the city
over where those specious lines are drawn.

Where do we draw the line; right now?

Do not look the magician in the eyes !

I repeat,
"Do not look at the magician's eyes !"

So, somebody has obviously done at least a decent amount of research, however they are playing it all wrong. If you set out to simply propagandize, you will simply sound like a propagandist, and any quasi-intelligent person doesn't pay attention to those sorts of folks. I can respect what he's attempting to do, but he needs to seriously work on his approach.

It's information for the community nothing more. Mom is working on something else for the public to review.

Well, whomever sent that has done the research, at least, it seems like they have.... But it reads like a poem written by someone who doesn't speak English very well. Is this going to the Council?

If so, it will need to be cleaned up a lot, disempassioned, and filled with brief and clear facts instead of poetry.

Since this was forwarded to you, if your mom still wants your help, and you still want mine, you and I can straighten this up and make it look a little more formal and intimidating. >:-] Mwuah ha ha.

this is tha rough version that e mail to me. Mom Cleaned up to look more like a new letter for the community not for the council. This is for the people in the park so they have a understanding what is going on exactly.

Ahhhh - very good for whipping already predisposed people into a passion! Glad to hear it's not a council presentation! And glad your Mom's proofing for the author. That'll get the entire community's aid.

Re: Too impassioned and incoherent
I agree with Lys's points too - since your mom's the one rewriting, if she uses her clinical angle, her hospital angle, it'll come out much cleaner. While you don't want to wipe the emotion out completely, she can scale that back a lot and still make a beautiful point. A little briefer is good, too, and a few less sweeping comparisons, such as Rome. It is a big deal, but it's not a nation, and less repetition. It'll be in print, so people can go back and read it again - only in speech does someone have to say "I repeat" just in case someone was snoozing.

Unless this is meant to be a speech?
